Lots of hands on experience is required to become fully proffcient. With that being said, I started with no video or audio experience and this book has brought me a long way on my path to mastering video and audio editing.
As I went through the boo, I created a two page link of applications functions and referenced the page number in the book so I can easily refer to the tutorials for reference. I highly recommend this book as a tutorial for Premier Pro. One person found this helpful. While the book does take you through many of the critical features of Premier, and you can learn from it, once you get through the chapters it is not of much value as a reference.
Like many instructional books, it also assumes that once it mentions something, you remember it -- for example, if in chapter 3 it takes you through opening a given panel, in chapter 10 it assumes you already know how to get there and doesn't give you a complete menu path. It also has a very incomplete index, which makes finding things afterwards difficult. Nothing happens when clicking on a subtitle in the navigation pane.
Using page up and page down to get to the specific part you need is annoying. I was expecting better quality from Adobe. Very clear and thorough explanations and examples of all step and requirements to make this a true instruction Arsenal.

It takes pages before you actually edit something, and when you do, the narrative is sometimes not very clear. These techniques should introduced one-by-one and build on the previous examples. Some of the images in the physical book are really small too and as they're taken with the dark appearance, they can be hard to see as the contrast is low.
